Reflection
What I would do differently
A key change I would make early on is to request access to their research regarding the necessity of this product. Although the StarTree team provided a rationale for its need, understanding the underlying methodology would have enabled our team to allocate efforts more strategically. Additionally, early on, I would have sought permission to engage with and gather insights from potential end-users of the product. While we were informed that the primary tester was the individual who initially introduced the project to my team, soliciting feedback from a broader user base would have provided more comprehensive validation of the design, mitigating reliance on a single perspective.
What we did well
Our strengths included a proactive approach to seeking clarity through extensive questioning and clarifications when facing uncertainty about the product. Moreover, our weekly team meetings every Tuesday were a notable success, offering a time to collectively address goals, tasks, challenges, and gauge our progress. This practice promoted transparency and ensured that every team member's voice was heard. Additionally, as students during the project, these meetings facilitated discussions on when extra support might be required due to academic commitments such as midterms, projects, homework, and finals, reinforcing our capacity to assist one another effectively.
The future of the project
The project has been handed off to StarTree, and we look forward to their internal testing and iterative adjustments. Our aim is for them to thoroughly validate the feature before extending it to their customers.
